Jay L. Taylor

Nov. 27, 1914 - Sept. 15, 1999

Mr. Jay L. Taylor died of lung cancer at 12:20 a.m. Sept. 15 in Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind. He was born in Chalmers, Ind., on Nov. 27, 1914, and grew up in So. Bend. He served with the U.S. Army during W.W. II and was employed by the Studebaker Corp. before moving to Houston, Tex. in 1956.

He was a longtime employee of Texas Art Supply Co. in Houston and a member of the Second Baptist Church. He had been living in So. Bend since April, 1998. Survivors include his wife Margaret, son Robert, sister Marie Glaser, and many other relatives.

Mr. Taylor's struggle against cancer was characterized by bravery and endurance and deeply touched those who knew of it. He loved life and many things, especially classical music. Private family services will be held in Chalmers, Ind., on Friday, Sept. 24.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Assn. or any church or charity of choice. He will be greatly missed by his family and many dear friends. We loved him more than he could ever have known. McGann Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.
