SOUTH BEND - Mary J. Taylor, 84, of South Bend, IN passed
away at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2008 in her home. She was
born on October 3, 1923, in South Bend, IN to Oliver and Winifred
(Mills) Pfender. On February 19, 1946 in South
Bend, she married Richard C. Taylor, who preceded her in death on
February 4, 1988. Mrs. Taylor is survived by five children,
Richard (Kristine) Taylor II of South Bend, IN, Judy Geisel
of South Bend, IN, Peggy (Mike) Hallaert of Mauldin, SC,
David Taylor of South Bend, IN and Robert (Angela) Taylor of
South Bend, IN; eight grandchildren, Jackie (Terry) Rife,
Angie (Sean Mathew) Harmon, Angie Geisel, Allen Geisel,
Cheryl (Kenny) Noell, Stacey (Jason) Wheeler, Jeni
(Rob) Reich and Rob (Kaley) Taylor; 18 great
grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Browning of Lakeland,
FL and Bee Cook of Columbiana, AL and her twin brother,
Jay Whitney of Sarasota, FL. A sister, Kathryn Greene; two
brothers, Jack and Dick Pfender and a great-grandchild preceded
her in death. Mrs. Taylor was a lifelong area resident. She was
an avid Bingo player, playing for over 40 years at the South Bend
Elks Club.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 in the funeral home.
