Aloysius Thallemer

June 21, 1852 – March 12, 1905

Aloysius Thallemer, one of Mishawaka’s best known citizens and a resident of this city for nearly 40 years, died Sunday night at the family residence, 235 West Grove Street, aged 58 years. He has been ill with dropsy and Bright’s disease since January. Mr. Thallemer was born in Thenge, Baden, Germany, June 21, 1852.

 

He was first married to Catherine Buccheit about 30 years ago. Two children blessed this union, one of whom survives, Herman Thallemer, of this city. The wife died 23 years ago in October. A year later Mr. Thallemer married Miss Elizabeth Leyes, who survives with two sons, Joseph and William Thallemer, both of Mishawaka. Two brothers, Michael and Mathias Thallemer, and one sister, Mrs. Phillip Muinch, live in this city, and one sister, Mrs. William Dietrich lives in Germany.

 

Mr. Thallemer was one of the best known painters in Mishawaka. He was a member of st. Joseph’s Society, and was an estimable man in every way and had many friends. The funeral service were conducted at St. Joseph Catholic Church Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock, the Rev. L. A. Moench officiating. Interment in the Catholic Cemetery.
