Nov. 25, 1836 – Feb. 13, 1894

The Mishawaka Enterprise 2/16/1894

Engelbert Thallemer, whose illness from dropsy was mentioned last week, died very suddenly and unexpected of Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. It was supposed that he was getting better and his family were not expecting the end was so near. His wife and one daughter only were with him when he died. He had just partaken of a substantial dinner, which he appeared to enjoy, and his wife was helping him to arise, when, without any warning, he suddenly gave a few gasps and expired in her arms.

Mr. Thallemer was born in Thengen, Germany, November 25, 1836, and was married to Catherine

Hirt, February 5, 1869. By this union there were four daughters, Emma, Mary, Katie and Bertha Thallemer, who with their mother are left to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. Besides these he leaves three brother, Michael, Mathias and Aloysius Thallemer, one sister, Mrs. Philip Muinch, all of this place, and one sister in the old country.

In May 1866, he, with his family, came to America and settled in Mishawaka, which place they made their home since. The funeral occurred yesterday morning at 9 o’clock from St. Joseph Church, Rev. A B. Oechering officiating.
