Maria A. Thallemer

Feb. 11, 1933 - May 3, 1999

Maria A. Thallemer, 66, of Hass Drive, died after an extended illness on Monday, May 3, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.

She was born on Feb. 11, 1933, in South Bend, the daughter of Joseph and Anita (Fagan) Casasanta, and was a lifelong resident. On Nov. 24, 1956, she married Gerald E. Thallemer of Mishawaka, Ind. He survives.

She was a loving mother who is survived by five daughters, Cindy (Steve) Bradberry of South Bend, Jacquelyn Yonto of South Bend, Kathleen Thallemer of South Bend, Michelle (Chris) Quinn of South Bend and Maureen (Jay) Gucky of South Bend; and two sons, Bill (Stacey) Thallemer of Perkinston, Miss., and Scott (Brigid) Thallemer of South Bend. She was blessed with the love of nine grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Sara, Jamen, Patrick, Reilley, Conner, Shane and Ryan.

Maria enjoyed raising her seven children and spending time with family and friends on vacations in Fort Meyers Beach, Fla. She was a dedicated registered nurse and mentor for 37 years. Her love for Notre Dame and its rich tradition was displayed everytime the band played ''Notre Dame Our Mother,'' written by her father, Joseph Casasanta, Sr., or ''The Victory March.''

The memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 7, in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.
