Robert Thieren, 79, of South West Street, Mishawaka, passed away at 1:33pm, Friday, May 28, in St Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

 

Bob was born on May 31, 1924, in Tracy MN, and moved to the Michiana area as a small child. On August 7, 1948, in St Bavo Catholic Church, he married the former Genevieve “Toots” Graveel.  Toots survives along with two daughter, Margaret (Jim) Bickett of Mishawaka and Susan (John) Merz of Imperial MO; three grandsons, Robert Bickett, John Merz and James Merz; and two great grandchildren, Connor Bickett and Seth Merz.

 

Bob worked for Clemens-Tucker Freight Lines for 16 years before retiring in 1982.  Bob was a member and past Director of the BK Club, and a lifelong member of VFW Post 360.  He was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country proudly during World War II.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and Gardner Bob will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.

 

Friends and family can visit on Monday, May 31, from 1 to 7pm in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, where a wake prayer service will be held at 4:30pm in the funeral home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, June 1, in St Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Barry England officiating.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, with Military Rites being conducted by American Legion VFW Post 360 Burial Team.
