SOUTH BEND - Bernard Louis Thomas Sr., 84, of Conroe, Texas, formerly of South Bend, passed away on Monday, June 9, in Select Specialty Hospital in Conroe, TX. Bernard was born on August 19, 1923, in East Chicago, IN, as the son of Michael and Veronica (Piskoz) Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Theresa Waggoner of Escondido, CA.

 

On October 13, 1951, in Mishawaka, he married the former Mary Komick. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mary; son, Bernard L. (Jennifer) Thomas Jr. of Flower Mound, TX; two grandchildren, Brandon and Parker; two sisters, Laura Kowalski of South Bend and Irene Ruble of South Bend, IN; and a brother, Richard Thomas of South Bend; and a sister-in-law, Helen Bennett of Mishawaka. Bernard and his family moved to Texas in 1980 from South Bend. He was an In-Store Announcer at Wal-Mart. He was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church, South Bend, Sacred Heart Church in Conroe, Texas, and Knights of Columbus #553. He was a former Account Executive for WSBT, WNDU and WJVA, South Bend Board of Realtors, Pajlowski-Thomas Real Estate Agency and Jack Hickey Builder & Developer.

 

Family and friends may visit today, Thursday, June 12th, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 13th, in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
