South Bend Tribune 7/20/2008
SOUTH BEND - Stanley C. Thompson, 77, passed away Wednesday at home after a long illness. Stan was born in Three Rivers, MI, to the late Charles and Margaret Thompson. On December 9, 1972, he married the former Janet (Kitchen) Richardson, who survives him. He is also survived by his brother, Guy Thompson of California; a son, Todd Thompson of Zephyr Hills, FL; and daughters, Lynn Kitchen of Old Town, FL, and Amy Thompson of South Bend, IN; and stepchildren, Christine Rifley, Jeanine Richardson and D. Michael Richardson of South Bend, IN. He was pre-deceased by Robert and Patrick Richardson. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Stan spent two years in the military, attended Western Michigan University, and joined brother Roy at Thompson Art Studio in South Bend, IN. They ran a very successful commercial art business for 37 years (or more)! He spent 13 years in Stuart, FL, as a "snow bird" and seven years in Pensacola, FL, as a full-time resident before returning to South Bend. The South Bend Country Club was his love for many years. "Bottom Feeders" lunch club became his "fun" day for the last several years. The members (and you know who you are) will miss him. Stan was an avid Cubs fan (go Cubbies!), golfed lots, and loved fishing. He thoroughly enjoyed his life, was known for his "kooky" sense of humor, had a generous heart, and was loved by all. We all love you and miss you!

Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 21, in the HICKEY Funeral Homes, 17131 Cleveland Road, with Steve Nanni, chaplain of the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, officiating. Visitation will be from noon until time of services. Memorials to Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
