SOUTH BEND - Herbert Thorpe, 89, passed away October 23rd
in Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 19, 1919, in
Jamestown, NY, to the late Herbert and G. Agnes (Simpson)
Thorpe Sr. He was an automotive mechanic for more then 20 years
at Veldman's Service Center. He enjoyed listening to short wave
radio programs that he picked up from around the world. He
enjoyed photography as a hobby. He graduated from the National
Camera Repair School and repaired cameras part-time. On September
10, 1955, he married Alice C. (Rouch) Thorpe, who survives
of South Bend. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Vickie May
of South Bend; a son, Jeffrey Thorpe of Mishawaka; and a
granddaughter, Whitney May of Granger.
Friends may call today (Sunday), Oct. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. in McGann Hay Funerals | Cremations | Gatherings, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road at Ironwood. Private services and burial will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
