Dale Richard Timm

July 16, 1954 - June 12, 2003

Dale Richard Timm, 48, of Pheasant Run, Granger, passed away on Thursday, June 12, after an extended illness. Dale was born on July 16, 1954, in Kankakee, Illinois, the son of Richard and June (Mietzner) Timm of Chebanse, Illinois, who both survive. Also surviving are his wife, Linda Rolfe Timm, Vice President for Student Affairs at Saint Mary's College; and two children, Julie and Ryan, all of Granger. Dale leaves sisters, Cindy (Paul) Scheunemann of Mountain, WI, and Melinda (Lyle) Behrends of Cabery, IL; and brothers, Alan of Chebanse, IL, Larry (Sue) of Gilman, IL, and Wayne (Karla) of Bloomington, IL. Also surviving are fourteen nieces and nephews. A graduate of Clifton Central High School (IL), Dale earned a BS degree and an MBA from Illinois State University. He was employed locally at Teachers Credit Union where most recently he held the position of accounting manager. Before moving to South Bend, he had been employed at Country Companies in Bloomington, IL. A devoted family man, Dale was a lifelong Chicago Cub fan. He was a fine gardener, an avid golfer and enjoyed participating in softball games. Dale was an active parishioner at St. Paul Lutheran Church in South Bend, serving for several years as a board member of the congregation. He gave enthusiastically of his time and talents to the establishment of Resurrection Lutheran Academy and served as a member of the Michiana Lutheran Educational Association.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. today, June 15, in Kaniewski Funeral Home at 3545 N. Bendix Drive in South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 16, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 51490 Laurel Road (at Auten Road) in South Bend. Cremation will follow. The family requests memorial contributions in memory of Dale be made to the Dale R. Timm Memorial Scholarship Fund for Resurrection Lutheran Academy. Donations can be sent in care of Michiana Lutheran Education Association, P.O. Box 2318, South Bend, IN 46680.

Cremation has taken place. Memorials and military services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 28, 2008, at Cemetery, South Bend. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 601 W. Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend, is assisting the family with local arrangements.
