Robert J. Timmons

SOUTH BEND - Robert J. Timmons, 78, of South Bend, passed away at 7:40 a.m. on Friday, May 30, in his residence. Mr. Timmons was born on Sept. 22, 1918 in Indianapolis, Ind., and had lived in the South Bend area for most of his life. He retired in 1979, as the chief industrial engineer and assistant manufacturing engineer from the AM General Corp. Prior to that, he was employed by the Studebaker Corp. as an industrial engineer.

 

In 1946, in Greenville, Ind., he married Alicia J. Kucharski, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Jonna K. (Timothy) Stickel of Mishawaka, Tina M. (Thomas) Konecny of Granger and Patricia A. (Paul) Muszic of St. John, Ind.; two sons, Robert J. (Wanda) Jr. of Indianapolis, and Kip (Christine) of South Bend, a brother, J. Thomas, of Mt. Pleasant, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; Rob, Bonney, Kelley, Christopher, Michael, Courtney, Paulie, Laura, Alicia, Jessica, Ryan, Anna, Andy and Jake; and one great-grandson, Rudy. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joanna Timmons and a brother, Kenneth P. Timmons.

 

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph Gaughan officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, June 1, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish rosary will be held at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunybrook Court, South Bend, 46637-3437. Mr. Timmons was a member of St. Anthony Parish and Holy Name Society.
