Hugo Tinti

MISHAWAKA - Hugo Tinti passed away at 4:45 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 1998, at age 90.

 

He came to this country at age 2 from Acona, Italy, and was the firstborn of seven children: three brothers, Mergs, Elmer and Flan; and three sisters, Ida, Ellen and Mary. All of the seven children grew up in the town of Loretto, Mich. Two sisters, Ellen Pickle living in Milwaukee, Wis., and Mary Meisel, living in Novato, Calif. One brother survives, Elmer Tinti living in Vulcan, Mich.

 

The oldest of the three sisters, Ida, died at the Hospice House four hours and fifteen minutes before Hugo.

 

On June 25, 1932, Hugo married Anna Lucarelli from Iron Mountain, Mich.

 

They came to Mishawaka 58 years ago with his wife and two small sons, Ronald and Roger. The oldest son, Ronald, died in a fatal car accident in March 1957.The younger son and his wife Jeannie survive and reside in Mishawaka, Ind.

 

During World War II he worked at Bendix making struts for the military aircraft. He then became a millwright/machine repairer at Bendix and also at Studebaker. He retired from AM General at age 68, doing the same work.

 

He became a collector of antique gas engines and was active in clubs of Americana Antique Engine Society, River Valley Antique Power Association and the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association, Inc.

 

No services will be scheduled.

 

The Chapel Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
