Thomas A. Toepp

March 27, 1944 -- March 26, 2005

                                       

SOUTH BEND, IN - Mr. Thomas A. Toepp, 60, of Holy Cross Village, formerly of East Wayne Street North, passed away unexpectedly of apparent cardiovascular failure on Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Holy Cross Village.

Mr. Toepp was born on March 27, 1944, in South Bend, to Burton Toepp and Ida (Schiffgen) Toepp.

Survivors include a brother, Burton E. "Bud" (Barbara) Toepp of Naperville, IL; and a sister, Paula A. (William) Allen of Montecito, CA; four nieces, Dr. Lisa Marie Toepp (Dr. Roger Pumphrey) of Colorado Springs, CO, Julie Anne Gras of Spring, TX, Paula Anne (Richard) Moore of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Laura Lynn (Charles) Gilmore of Treasure Island, FL. Also surviving are one grandniece, Kathryn Rose Moore of Cedar Rapids; and three grandnephews, James Garrett Moore of Cedar Rapids, and William Kelley Gilmore and Charles Burton Gilmore, both of Treasure Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burton E. Toepp 5/30/1980 and Ida P. Toepp 11/13/2004; a brother, James Edward Toepp on 8/31/93; as well as a grandniece, Evelyn Kelley Gilmore.

A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 31, in St. Joseph Chapel at Holy Cross College, Notre Dame, IN, at 10:00 a.m., with Father Kenneth Grabner officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the Mass (9:00 to 10:00 a.m.) in the church. McGann Funeral Homes, University Area Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Thomas graduated from St. Joseph Grade School and John Adams High School and attended Marquette University.

Thomas was a former member of both St. Anthony de Padua and St. Joseph Catholic Churches. He was a member of a local radio-controlled flying club and enjoyed flying his model airplanes. He had recently retired at the University of Notre Dame.
