Edward Tomczak: (South Bend Tribune 5/25/2000)


Feb. 25, 1927 – May 23, 2000 Edward Tomczak, 73, of Lake Lane, South Bend, Ind., died at 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, in Memorial Hospital. He was born on Feb 25, 1927 in South Bend, to the late Louis and Ann (Trudzinski) Tomczak. He was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Tomczak was a self-employed carpenter for 20 years, and retired in 1990 from Van Overberghe Builders as a finish carpenter. On July 3, 1948, in South Bend, he married Alice Nowicki, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Thomas (Janet) Tomczak of South Bend; a daughter, Susan (Todd) Fisher of South Bend; four grandchildren, Troy and Todd Tomczak, and Danielle and Kimberly Fisher, all of South Bend; and by a sister, Betty (Jerry) Vascil of Granger, Ind. Mr. Tomczak was a member of Carpenters Union Local #413 and of Holy Family Catholic Church. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday in the ST.JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, in Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association of St. Joseph County, 711 E. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, IN 46601; or to the Holy Family Catholic Church Building Fund, 56405 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46619.
