Obituary: Rose S. Torok (June 2, 1934 -- Aug. 14, 2005).

Rose S. Torok, 95, of Riveridge Manor in Niles, Michigan, formerly of N. Johnson Street in South Bend, Indiana, passed away, Sunday, August 14, 2005, in Lakeland Hospital, Niles. Rose was born on October 1, 1909, in Benton Township, Michigan to Casper and Anna (Schneider) Mahka. On June 2, 1934, Rose married Alex J. Torok who preceded her in death on January 6, 1963.

Surviving are nieces, Suzanne (David) Orlaske of St. Joseph, Michigan, Kathy (Bob) Whalen of Muskegon, Michigan, Judy (Ed) Miller of St. Joseph, Michigan; nephews, Ron Mahka of Albuquerque, New Mexico, John (Annette) Teachout of St. Joseph, Michigan, Frank Teachout of Tucson, Arizona; many great nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Mahka of St. Joseph, Michigan.

Rose was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana, the Helena Rebekah Lodge # 72, where she was made a life member in 2001, and the Ladies Auxiliary of Canton # 9 in South Bend. She enjoyed socializing with friends and neighbors, playing cards and gardening.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 18, 2005, at the Kaniewksi Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2005, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Bend, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.
