Arlen Trent, 85, of Paxson Drive, South Bend, Ind., and Palmetto, Fla., died Saturday afternoon, Feb. 15, in South Bay Hospital, Sun City Center, Fla. He was born Sept. 17, 1917, in Rowan County, Ky., to the late Everett and Allie (Conn) Trent.

 

On Oct. 21, 1937, in Ault, Ky., he married the former Sibyl Evans, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Shari Burget (Keith) of South Bend; two grandchildren, Rhonda Grim (Jeff) of Wolcottville, Ind., and Todd Burget (Julie) of Niles, Mich.; four great-grandchildren, Dustin, Dana, Macie and Braden; and by a sister, Ina Conn of Mansfield, Ohio. Mr. Trent retired from the Muia Construction Company where he worked as a carpenter over 25 years. He was a veteran of the World War II Army, and held membership in Roseland VFW Post 624.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in the Welsheimer North Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road, with Pastor Rick Yohn of River Valley Community Church officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to services.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County or to the charity of donor's choice.
