MISHAWAKA – Carl E. Trippel, 90, of 14th Street, died at 2am Thursday in Countryside Place after an illness.  Mr. Trippel retired as a bricklayer. 

 

He was born November 15, 1903, in Mishawaka, and was a lifelong area resident.  On August 17, 1926, in Mishawaka, he married Margaret Deitchely.  She died March 13, 1980.  On August 3, 1985, in Mishawaka, he married Frieda Vogel Schramm.  She survives, with a daughter, Irene DeVliegher of Mishawaka; five sons, Thomas, Raymond, Edward and Paul, all of Mishawaka, and William of Sewell NJ; two stepsons, Joseph Schram of Thousand Oaks CA, and Karl Schram of Mishawaka; 23 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Brown of Mount Clement MI, and Elizabeth Zimmerman of Grand Rapids MI; and a brother, Joseph Merbs of North Muskegon MI.  He was a former Eucharistic minister, member of Harvest House of St Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus Council 1878, Madison Township Farm Bureau and Bricklayers Union 18.

 

Services will be at 10am Monday in the church.  Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call form 2 to 5 and 7 to 9pm Sunday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where the parish rosary will be said at 3:30pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
