William Gall Troyer, Sr.

April 18, 1902December 18, 1978

 

William Gall Troyer Sr, 76, formerly of South Bend, died at 3:45pm Monday in the Timber Crest Retirement Center, Manchester, after an illness of several years.

 

He was born on April 18, 1902, in Mishawaka.  Troyer retired in 1958 from the Standard Oil Co of Indiana and worked as a public accountant for many years after retiring.  Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Portia Kelly of Indianapolis,; a son, Dr. William Troyer Jr, Oak Park IL, and three grandchildren.

 

In 1969 in South Bend he married Velma Woderich.  She died in 1975.  Troyer was a member of Masonic Lodge 294; the Scottish Rite; Avalon Grotto and the Shrine Club.  He was formerly a member of the South Bend Lions Club.  Troyer graduated from Manchester College, North Manchester.

 

Services will be at 1pm Thursday at the Forest G Hay Funeral Home, 1201 S Michigan.  Rev. Paul Robinson, DD pastor of the Crest Manor Church of the Brethren, where Troyer was a member, will officiate.  Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Plymouth.

 

Friends may call from 6 to9pm Wednesday in the funeral home.  Contributions may be made to Manchester College, the Timber Crest Retirement Center or the Crest Manor Church.
