Harry A. Truax

Sept. 13, 1915 - Feb. 11, 1997

Harry A. Truax, 81, residing at Roy Street, Walkerton, Ind., passed away after an extended illness at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, in the emergency room of St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.

He retired in 1982 as a carpenter with Local 413 in South Bend after 60 years of service. Harry was born Sept. 13, 1915, in South Bend, to the late Rollo and Martha Truax. He was a lifelong area resident.

On Sept. 18, 1938, in North Liberty, Ind., he married Blanche Elliott, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Sharry (Jim) Kinney of Walkerton and Jean (Phil) Clark of Elkhart, Ind.; one son, Dr. James (Patricia) Truax of Waco, Texas; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Eva Dean Platz of Walkerton; and one brother, Robert Truax of Walkerton.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, in Pine Creek Church of the Brethren, 69531 Pine Rd., North Liberty, IN 46554, with Rev. Norman Replogle officiating. Burial will follow in Fair Cemetery, North Liberty.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, Ind.

Harry was a member of the Pine Creek Church since 1936, as well as acting as a deacon of the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
