Florence M. Tschida (Dec. 21, 1908 -- June 16, 2004)

Florence M. Tschida, 95, of Healthwin Specialized Care Facility, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, in Healthwin.

Florence was born on Dec. 21, 1908, in South Bend, to the late Peter and Anna (Solomon) Grabner. On Jan. 25, 1928, as Florence Grabner, she married Edward Tschida, who preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 1989. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Grabner.

Mrs. Tschida is survived by her three daughters, Geraldine "Gerry" (James) Dickey and Jane (Fred) Kanouse, both of South Bend, and Jeanette (Tom) Canter of Hereford, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Cathy Kerr and Christopher Wille, both of Peyton, Colo.; and by two great-grandchildren, Christine and Christopher Kerr.

She was a former member of Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Florence enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2004, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2004, in Christ the King Catholic Church, with Rev. Kenneth Grabner officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Healthwin Specialized Care Facility or to the charity of the donor's choice.
