Helen K. Tschida (Aug. 9, 1916 -- Dec. 3, 2003)

Helen Tschida, 87, formerly of Kendall Street, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, in Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa, Ind.

Mrs. Tschida was born on Aug. 9, 1916, in South Bend, Ind., to Matthew and Ursula (Griener) Domnanovich. On July 17, 1935, as Helen Domnanovich in South Bend, she married George M. Tschida. He died on July 30, 2001.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane (Frank) James of South Bend and Judy (Tom) Burmeister of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) James, Robert (Jodi) James, Sue Ann James, Christine James, Michael (Cathy) Burmeister, Beth Ann (David) Whitfield and Jennifer (John) Rittenhouse; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Domnanovich of Birmingham, Ala.; and by a sister-in-law, Margaret Domnanovich of South Bend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Agnes Billisitz; and by a brother, Rudolph Domnanovich.

Mrs. Tschida was a member of the DFV German Club Ladies Auxiliary and also the St. Anthony Society Ladies Auxiliary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Saturday, Dec. 6, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, South Bend. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Ave., South Bend, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
