Gladys E. Tully

Gladys E. Tully, 92, residing on Miami Circle, South Bend, Ind., formerly of River Park, passed away at 5:35 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, in Southfield Village, South Bend. Mrs. Tully worked for Robertson's Department Store for several years, retiring in 1976. She was born March 11, 1909, in Warsaw, Ind., as the daughter of Thomas and Tressie (Shoemaker) Sloan, and had resided in the South Bend community since 1930, coming from Clinton, Ill.

 

On Jan. 22, 1927, in Goshen, as Gladys Sloan, she married Harold V. Tully, who preceded her in death on March 10, 1998. Mrs. Tully is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Norma and Richard Beaty of South Bend, Janice and Max Kennedy of Sterling Heights, Mich., and Glenda and Charles Harrison of South Bend; five grandchildren, David (Mikki) Beaty of Mishawaka, Ind., Patrick Kennedy of Detroit, Mich., James H. (Laurie) Farris of South Bend, John Charles (Pam) Farris of Buchanan, Mich., and Diane (Steve) Gerencser of Goshen; and by three stepgrandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and six great- great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Tully will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, in the Palmer Funeral Homes, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Daniel A. Streufert, pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Mrs. Tully was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 805 S. 29th Street, South Bend, IN 46615.
