Paul A. Turner

May 19, 1925 - March 24, 1997

Paul Andrew Turner was born May 19, 1925, in South Bend, Ind., to the union of Henry and Nellie Turner.

Paul was united in marriage to Delores Lee Turner for 35 years. To this union two children were born: Dawn E. Turner Williams and Derek Andrew Turner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Turner and Nettie Turner Coleman; two brothers, James and John Coleman; and a sister, Margaret Turner Brown.

Paul served honorably in the United States Army during World War II, and was discharged in January 1964 as a corporal.

He professed Christ at a young age, loving the Lord all of his life. As a devoted family man, Paul cherished his conversations with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and spent as much time as possible with his favorite fishing poles. In the summertime we all enjoyed his delicious bar-b-que and soulful jazz-time tunes of Ella Fitzgerald and Gene Ammons. He retired from the restaurant industry in 1979.

Paul departed this life on Monday, March 24, 1997.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Delores; a daughter, Dawn (son-in-law, Desmond); and son, Derek (daughter-in-law, Sonja); two grandchildren, Hevin and Jerrod; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Coleman of South Bend, Ind.; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Wake services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, with a funeral at 10:30 a.m. on March 26, officiated by Rev. Donald Fairley, at the Cedar Park Funeral Home, Calumet Park, Ill.
