Alex Urban: (Michigan City News Dispatch 5/21/1954)


Alex Urban, 75, 1502 Kentucky St., died at his home at 3:40 p.m. yesterday following a two-month illness. A resident of this city for 50 years, he was a retired Pullman-Standard Car Manufacturing Co. employe. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Stanislaus Church with Msgr. Julian Doktor officiating. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Grandsons will be pallbearers. Friends may call at the Ott Funeral Chapel Sunday and Monday until the hour of service. Members of the Polish Roman Catholic Union, of which Mr. Urban was a member, will recite the Rosary at the funeral chapel at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Urban was born Nov. 28, 1878, in Posen, Germany, the son of Frank and Antonette Kusk Urban. He was twice married. His first wife, Pauline Dobeski, is deceased. The second Cecelia Kobosinski, survives. Also surviving are six daughters – Mrs. Charles Schmidt, Gadsen, Ala.; Mrs. Lawrence Foldenauer, South Bend and Mrs. Stanley Boyan, Mrs. Joseph Sobkowiak, Mrs. Raymond Losiniecki and Mrs. Gregory Bogoslawski, all of this city; a son, Richard, this city, and Mrs. Frank Sobieski, Otis. A son is deceased. Mr. Urban was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.
