Lurea M. Vanatta

Lurea M. Vanatta, 88, of Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Walnut Grove, South Bend, Ind., died at 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, in National Healthcare of Port Charlotte, Fla.

Mrs. Vanatta was born to James M. and Ara Ellen (Hicks) Bosstick on Oct. 28, 1908, in Sullivan, Ind., and lived in this area most of her life. Then, in 1994, she moved to Florida. She was employed by the Mobil Oil Company for 15 years.

She was married in Crown Point, Ind., as Lurea Bosstick, to Charles Emery Vanatta, who preceded her in death in 1963.

Mrs. Vanatta is survived by a daughter, Thelma Graham of Arcadia, Fla.; a son, Charles Vanatta of South Bend; five grandchildren, Ellen C. Johnson, Linda L. Graham, Deborah S. Motz, Sherrie Wheeler and Charles A. Vanatta; eight great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Floy Bobb of Albuquerque, N.M.

She was a member of the Monson Chapel United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary Post 50.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home, with the Rev. David Henry officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
