Dec. 26, 1922-March 26, 1994 SOUTH BEND – George VanDePutte, 71, of Marine Street, died at 8:50 p.m. Saturday in his home after an illness. Mr. VanDePutte retired in 1989 as a tool and die maker. He was born Dec. 26, 1922, in Mishawaka and was a lifelong area resident. On Feb. 15, 1947, in Jacksonville, Fla., he married Gladys J. Odor. She survives with four daughters, Patricia DeLuca of Tewksbury, Mass., Kim Miller and Tina VanDePutte, both of Houston, and Sue Singleton of South Bend; four sons, Mark of Mishawaka, Scott and David, both of South Bend, and Sgt. Chris A. of Woodridge, Va.; and 13 grandchildren. He was a member of B.K. Club, Mishawaka, South Bend Remote Control Club, Izaak Walton League, and St. Matthew Cathedral. Mr. VanDePutte also received the Eagles Adalteri Award and was a veteran of World War II. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a parish rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc. or the church education fund.
