Lois D. Van Der Voort

July 30, 1915 - May 7, 2000

Lois D. Van Der Voort, 84, of Remington Court, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, in St. Joseph Community Hospital.

Mrs. Van Der Voort was born on July 30, 1915, in Mishawaka, as the daughter of the late George and Anna (Jordan) Bend. On Feb. 17, 1946, in the First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, as the former Lois Bend, she married William Van Der Voort, who also preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1996. She was a lifetime Mishawaka resident.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Dale) Culp of Nappanee, Ind., and Janice (William) Hopp of Terre Haute, Ind.; four grandchildren, Andrew Culp of Nappanee, Casey Chatham of Terre Haute, Michele Newman and Sarah Culp, both of Nappanee; and by two great-grandchildren, Christopher Hartle-road, Jr., of Wakarusa, Ind., and Matthew Newman of Nappanee.

She was employed by the former Uniroyal in Mishawaka for 30 years and retired in 1978. Mrs. Van Der Voort was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. today, May 10, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 West 8th Street, Mishawaka.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, in the funeral home, with Rev. Dave Engbrecht, pastor of Nappanee Missionary Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
