Dorothy Marie Van De Voorde

Dorothy Marie Van De Voorde, 82, formerly of South Dale Street, South Bend, Ind., died Sunday, Sept. 30, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 23, 1919, in South Bend, to Stanley Bukowski and Maude Miloserny, who both preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Stajkowski and Eugenia Mead.

 

In July 1937 she married Charles A. Van De Voorde, who also preceded her in death in September 1987. She loved her family and had been a homemaker all her life. She is survived by her two daughters, Joan (Chuck) Wagner and Christina Van De Voorde, both of South Bend. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Lynn Blume, George Yahle, Tammy Lybarger and Shannon Novik; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Blondyna Van Ooteghen.

 

She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend, where services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Joseph Care Center, Resident's Fund, 4600 Washington Street, South Bend, IN 46619.
