Elizabeth L. Van De Voorde, 88, of Kamm Court, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 8:10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, in St. Joseph Community Hospital. She was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Van De Voorde was born on Sept. 25, 1911, in South Bend, Ind., as the daughter of the late Conrad and Lena (Goldstein) Hofman. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Waggoner; and by four brothers, Herbert, George, Bill and Edwin Hofman. On Feb. 12, 1944, in Mishawaka, as the former Elizabeth L. Hofman, she married Maurice Van De Voorde, who also preceded her in death on May 24, 1953. Mrs. Van De Voorde is survived by a son, Thomas (Betty) Van De Voorde of Osceola, Ind.; two step-grandchildren, John P. Jordan and Beverly Vielthouse; and by three step-great-grandchildren, John P. Jordan, Jr., Timothy R. Jordan and Heather Jordan. Mrs. Van De Voorde was employed by Associates Financial, and retired in 1978 from Mishawaka High School.

As per Mrs. Van De Voorde's wishes, there will be no services or visitation. The Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437.
