Rene Van De Wielle

March 14, 1908 - June 2, 1999

Rene Van De Wielle, 91, of Berkley Circle, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2, in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka. Mr. Van De Wielle was born on March 14, 1908, in Lovemgena, Belgium, as the son of the late Charley and Marie Van De Wielle. In May 1929, in South Bend, Ind., he married the former Mary Bievuyck, who preceded him in death in 1944. On March 31, 1945, in South Bend, he married the former Marjorie Gerard. Mr. Van De Wielle is survived by his wife, Marjorie of 54 years; a son, Elmer E. (Loraine) Van De Wielle of South Bend; three grandchildren, Dave (Sharon) Van De Wielle, Rene Van De Wielle and Mary Lynn (Bob) Means; five great-grandchildren, Matthew Van De Wielle, Amy Van De Wielle, Andrew Van De Wielle, Kyle Means and Ashton Means; a sister, Martha Roelandts of Mishawaka; and by a brother, Michael Van De Wielle, also of Mishawaka. Mr. Van De Wielle was employed by the former Uniroyal for 37 years, retiring in 1970. He was a member of St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, and was a member of the B-K Club, Mishawaka. He was also a member of the Uniroyal Retirees.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 4, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. James Shafer officiating. Entombment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum, South Bend. Contributions in memory of Mr. Van De Wielle may be made to St. Bavo's 2000, 511 W. 7th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
