Michael J. Van Durmen

July 17, 1946 - June 26, 1997

WALKERTON - Michael J. Van Durmen, 50, of 19141 W. First Road, Walkerton, Ind., died of a sudden illness at 2:07 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.

Mr. Van Durmen was born on July 17, 1946, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Julian and Lillian (Trowbridge) Van Durmen.

 

On July 10, 1993, Michael married Joyce Brownlee, who survives. He is also survived by their son, Christopher at home; sons, Michael A. Van Durmen of Mishawaka and Craig A. Van Durmen of Bloomington, Ind.; his mother and stepfather, Lillian and Edward Stanek of South Bend; two sisters, Susan Desimone of Granger, Ind., and Karen Van Durmen of Walkerton; two brothers, Geoffrey and Stephen Van Durmen, both of South Bend; and by several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Julian Van Durmen, on Aug. 17, 1978.

 

Michael was employed by Sibley Machine and Foundry Corporation of South Bend, where he had worked for 31 years, and had attended Riley High School.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday in the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, with Pastor D.O. Van Dyne officiating. Burial will be in the Morris Cemetery, Teegarden. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, and from 9 a.m. until the time of services on Monday at the funeral home.
