Patrice J. "Pat" VanHaverbeke

Patrice J. "Pat" VanHaverbeke, 99, of 323 W. 16th St., died about 6 a.m. Saturday in Countryside Place nursing home, after an illness.

 

He had retired in 1957 from Studebaker Corp., where he had been an auto painter.

 

Mr. VanHaverbeke was born March 15, 1889, in Oostkamp, Belgium, and had lived in this area since 1911, coming from Belgium.

 

On Sept, 22, 1922, in Belgium, he married Madelaine Lambert. She died March 1, 1973. Surviving are two daughters, Marylaine Balmer and Mildred Balmer, both of Mishawaka; a son, Roy VanHaverbeke of Mishawaka; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery, with burial to follow. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Hahn-DeVos Funeral Home.

 

Mr. VanHaverbeke was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mishawaka Post 360.
