Aquina Van Holsbeke

SOUTH BEND - Aquina Van Holsbeke, 88, of South Bend, passed away at 6:50 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2007, in Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center. Aquina was born on January 14, 1918, in South Bend, to Thomas and Helena (Michalski) Wolter, who have both preceded her in death.

 

On June 28, 1941, she married Robert F. Van Holsbeke, who passed away on June 3, 1992. Her sisters, Gertrude, Aurelia, Elfrieda and Molly have also preceded her in death. Aquina is survived by her son, Dennis (Barbara) of South Bend; grandchildren, Ryan and Nicolas, both of Chicago; sister, Mildred Fisher of Maine; and numerous nieces and nephews. Aquina was a homemaker and parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Visitation was on Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road, South Bend, where a Rosary was prayed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 10, in St. Anthony Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Joseph County.
