Vera Van Hove

Vera Van Hove, 103, formerly of South 35th Street, South Bend, Ind. passed away at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2005, in Regency Place of South Bend. She was born on April 19, 1902, in South Bend, to Leroy and Ida (Quier) Burke and was a lifelong resident.

 

On June 30, 1923, in South Bend, as Vera Burke she married Kamiel Van Hove, who preceded her in death on May 21, 1986. Mrs. Van Hove is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Norma J. and Jim Schmidt of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren, Sherry Eggers, Jean Dare, Jill Quimby, Donna Stanley, Linda Baum, Cyndi Lindenmuth and David Duncan; 16 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Verna Caton on January 25, 2004, and Velma Barnes in August, 1996; one infant son, Donald Van Hove; and two brothers, Leonard Burke and Gerald Burke.

 

Mrs. Van Hove was a member of Redeemer Missionary Church, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2005, in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Jason A. Nicholls will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2005, in the funeral home.
