David L. Van Ooteghem

David L. Van Ooteghem, 61, of Mishawaka IN, passed away following an illness at 7pm Tuesday, June 1, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend IN.

 

He was born November 2, 1942, in Mishawaka, to Harry and Juanita (Wallace) Van Ooteghem, who preceded him in death.  On June 27, 1964, in South Bend, he married the former Donna M. Swilo, who survives.  He is also survived by a daughter, Debbie L. Van Ooteghem of Chicago IL; and a son, David L. (Traci) Van Ooteghem Jr. of Mishawaka; two brothers, Steven (Carolyn) Van Ooteghem of Tampa FL, and Gerald (Barbara) Van Ooteghem of Granger IN; a sister, Toni (Andrew) Burke of Mishawaka; and by a grandson, Kyle Van Ooteghem of Mishawaka.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Julie Colelman.

 

Mr. Van Ooteghem was a member of the South Bend Elks #235, Mishawaka Eagles Aerie #2083 and Mishawaka American Legion #161.  He was an avid camper and fisherman, and was an accomplished woodworker.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force.  He had worked at Dodge Manufacturing as a machinist and a quality assurance manager at Adapto in South Bend.  He was retired from School City in Mishawaka as a maintenance person.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Van Ooteghem will be held at 11am Friday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, where friends will be received from 4 to 8pm today.  Burial will follow the services at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
