Inez A. VanOoteghem, 84, Macomb, died at 5 a.m., Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at the Elms Nursing Home, Macomb. She was born Jan. 1, 1921 in Mishawaka, Ind. the daughter of Franchesco and Prima (Canarecci) Ciavatta. She married Charles F. VanOoeteghem Feb. 23, 1945. He preceded her in death.

 

She is survived by one son, Charles F. VanOoeteghem, Macomb; three grandchildren, Laurie Holt, Julie and Jennifer VanOoeteghem; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Holt, Courtney VanOoteghem, Breanna Nguyen, and Jacob Declemente; three sisters, Adaline Rice, Mishawka, Ind., Alba Decker, Lansing, Mich., and Norma Sipres, Michigan City, Ind. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents.

 

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, South Bend, Ind. She was also a member of the Moose Club and was in a local Euchar Club both in Mishawaka. She was a seamstress, a bookkeeper and a bank teller. She loved to dance, knit and play cards. She lived her early life in Mishawaka. She lived in South Bend with her husband until his death at which time she returned to Mishawaka. She moved to Macomb in 2002 to be near her son.

 

Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family service will take place in Indiana at a later date.

 

Memorials may be made to Betel Senior Citizens Center, Mishawaka, Ind. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
