June M. Van Paemel, 81, of Berkley Circle, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening, March 3, in the Country-side Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Misha-waka. Mrs. Van Paemel was born on Feb. 14, 1917, in Elkhart, Ind., as the daughter of the late John and Shirley (Banker) Blashor.

 

On Dec. 12, 1947, in Elkhart, as June Blashor, she married E. Dale Swihart, who also preceded her in death in October 1966. On April 2, 1972, in Elkhart, as June Swihart, she married Andrew Van Paemel, who survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Gayle (Jack) Nelson of Elkhart; her son, Ronald (Else) Capper of Indianapolis, Ind.; Andy's two daughters, Judith and (Frank) Bishop of Palm Bay, Fla., and Linda and (Dale) Zbrzezny of Mishawaka; two sisters, Imogene Derby and Audrey Bartlett, both of Elkhart; and by 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

 

Mrs. Van Paemel retired from ManPower in 1968. She had been an area resident since 1975, coming from Elkhart. She was a Red Cross volunteer for 20 years. Mrs. Van Paemel was also a member of A.A.R.P.

 

Funeral services will be at noon on Friday in the Hahn Funeral Home. Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Cross, 3220 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615.
