Anna Lee Van Rie

October 24, 1921July 4, 2000

 

Anna Lee Van Rie, 78, of Diamond Isle, Cassopolis MI, formerly of Mishawaka IN, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, in Lee Memorial Hospital, Dowagiac MI.

 

She was born on October 24, 1921, in Washington D.C., to the late Clem and Iva (Sharpe) Thompson.  She was also preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Thompson.  On November 26, 1983, Anna married Harold Van Rie, who survives.  She is also survived by two daughters, Suzanne Russo of Niles MI, and Marilyn (Meme) Davis of Fort Lauderdale FL; two sons, Ken Long of Bar Harbour FL, and Tom (Mary) Long of Cincinnati OH; a stepdaughter, Pat (Nyal) Weaver of Osceola IN; a stepson, Wally (Pam) Van Rie of Goshen IN; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and by two brothers, Richard (June) Thompson of Fort Pierce FL and Robert (Angie) Thompson of Indianapolis IN.

 

Anna was a 1939 graduate of Mishawaka High School.  She retired in 1983 from the Simplicity Pattern Company, South Bend, where she was head of the accounting department.

 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm today, July 6, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30pm.

 

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1pm on Friday, July 7, in St Joseph Church, Mishawaka, with Fr. Robert A. Yast officiating.  Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Mishawaka.
