MISHAWAKA - Gloria M. VanSkyhawk, 78, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 2:45 PM Thursday, July 5, 2007, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. She retired from Cardinal Nursing Home after 19 years of service as a nurse's aide. She was born on July 24, 1928, in South Bend, IN, to Ray E. and Bertha Irene (Kelley) Livengood, and was a lifelong resident.

On April 26, 1946, she married Wayne F. VanSkyhawk, who preceded her in death on January 15, 1974. Mrs. VanSkyhawk is survived by her daughter, Cheri Siebert of Mishawaka; two sons, Dave VanSkyhawk of Osceola and Dennis VanSkyhawk of Rosemount, MN; five grandchildren, Kristie Grontkowski, Tim Grontkowski, Trish VanSkyhawk, Katie Brown and Ryan Grontkowski; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Mary Aliff of Indianapolis, Irma Headlee, Ruthie Hertel and Martha Albright, all of South Bend. Her parents and four brothers, Ralph, Robert, Clell and Jack Livengood, all preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, July 10, 2007, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
