Charles P. Van Tornhout

November 23, 1913 - April 18, 1986

 

Word has been received of the death of Charles P. Van Tornhout, 72, of St Petersburg FL, formerly of South Bend, who died at 7:05am Friday in Manatee County FL, of an apparent heart attack while fishing on the skyway bridge.  Mr. Van Tornhout was a retired water plant operator in St Petersburg.

 

He was born November 23, 1913, in South Bend and moved to Florida in 1950.  Surviving are his wife, Maxine Lavo Van Tornhout of St Petersburg; two daughters, Kathy Bonner and Michele Pearson, both of St Petersburg; two grandchildren; a great grandchild; and his mother, Augusta Barber of St Petersburg.

 

Services and burial were today in St Petersburg Suncoast Funeral Chapel, St Petersburg, was in charge of arrangements.  He was a veteran of WW II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6827, Moose Lodge 1145 and American Legion Post 273.
