Edmund E. VanTornhout, 67, of 2206 S. Scott, died at 8:30 a.m. today at home after a six-month illness. He was retired from O’Brien Paint Co. Born on Nov. 11, 1914, in South Bend, he had lived here all his life. On. Aug. 9, 1941, in South Bend, he married Dorothy Reiter. She survives, along with his mother, Mrs. Augusta Barber of Mishawaka; a son Ronald of South Bend; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Jefferson of Mishawaka; and a brother Charles of St. Petersburg, Fla. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Rev. Anthony Molnar, assistant, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, where the St. Ann Society and Sacred Heart and Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 3 p.m. He was a member of the White Eagle DAV Chapter 9, and American Legion Post 272, and was a World War II army veteran.
