Magdalene Van Wanzeele

October 28, 1912 – May 24, 2003

 

Magdalene Van Wanzeele, 90, of Darden Road, South Bend IN, passed away at 6pm on Saturday, May 23, in Miller’s Merry Manor, New Carlisle IN.

 

She was born in Aaltre, Belgium, on October 28, 1912, to Camiel and Leonie (DeLaCluyse) DeNeve, who preceded her in death.  On October 29, 1932, in Mishawaka, she married Eugene Van Wanzeele, who passed away on December 23, 1998.  She was also preceded in death by a sister, Anna DeNeve; and by four brothers, Maurice, Leon, Frank and Joe DeNeve.

 

Magdalene is survived by two sons, August (Nancy) Van Wanzeele of New Carlisle, Eugene A. Van Wanzeele of South Bend; three grandchildren, Mary Ellen (Brett) Smith of North Liberty, Michael (Penny) Van Wanzeele of New Carlisle and Paul (Lori) Van Wanzeele of New Carlisle; seven great grandchildren, Cpl. Jason Beyer of South Bend, Christopher Beyer, Katie Smith of North Liberty, David, Amanda and Scott Van Wanzeele, and Bruce Van Wanzeele of New Carlisle; a sister, Clara Edgerton of Centerville MI; and by two brothers, Fierman (Clara) DeNeve of Mishawaka and Francis (Naomi) DeNeve of Bradenton FL.  She belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Indiana Farm Bureau.

 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm on Wednesday, May 28, in the St Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road.  Funeral services will be at 10am on Thursday, May 29, in St John the Baptist Catholic Church.  Burial will be at Highland Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the St John the Baptist Building Fund or to Lydick Lions.
