Marie Van Wassenhove

MISHAWAKA – Mrs. Marie C. Van Wassenhove, 87, of 602 W. 8th Street, died at 4:20 p.m. Sunday in the home of her niece, Mrs. Edwin VanHuffel of Elkhart, after a four-month illness. She retired in 1957 from Uniroyal after 34 years of service. She was born Aug. 15, 1892 in Poesele, Belgium and moved to Mishawaka area in January 1920, coming from Belgium.

 

As Marie Bauters, on Aug. 25, 1921 at St. Bavo’s Catholic Church, she married Ivo A. Van Wassenhove. He survives with a son Henry of Pittsburgh, Pa.; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Mrs. Irma DeCloedt of Mishawaka, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Friends ma call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Hahn-Pfeffey-DeVos funeral chapel where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church. Rev. Robert Mahoney, assistant pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
