VAN WYNSBERGHE

Emery “Henry” Van Wynsberghe

October 26, 1882 – May 9, 1969

Emery immigrated in 1908.  He came to the United States and worked for his cousin, Camiel Van Wynsberghe, on the Oliver Farm.  He also drove horses for the Oliver Company.  He then returned to Belgium and married Marie Schatteman in February 1909, and returned to the United States.  They stayed with Theophiel and Maria Van Wynsberghe until they found a place to live.  Henry took his family back to Belgium in 1918.  Maria preferred the United States; the family was only allowed to immigrate again because they had two children buried in Indiana.

Henry was a farmer in Lakeville.  He had also been employed at Studebaker Corporation from 1942-1952. Henry died, in South Bend, May 9, 1969.  He was preceded in death by three children, Prosper, Marie L. and Charles C. He is survived by his wife, Marie; a son, Leon Rene (Patricia) Van Wynsberghe; and a daughter, Marguerite (Jerome H.) Pluta.
