Anna Mary Vargo (South Bend Tribune 9/25/2005)


June 8, 1907 – Sept. 23, 2005 Anna Mary Vargo, 98, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2005, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center. Anna Mary was born on June 8, 1907, in South Bend, to Stanislaus and Mary Reiter. She had worked as a bookkeeper for South Bend Lathe, and also had a foster home, taking care of fifteen to twenty children over the years. On April 16, 1931, in South Bend, as Anna Mary Reiter, she married Louis G. Vargo, who preceded her in death on December 30, 1995. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Ann (Brendan) Vargo Fagan of Westlake, OH; and three grandchildren, Christopher (Pam) Bradish of Redlands, CA, Michael Bradish of Newport, KY, and Mar  Beth Bradish of Brea, CA. A Mass of  Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2005, in Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish vigil will be held at 5:00 p.m. Anna Mary was a member of Holy Cross Parish, an officer for the Rosary and Altar Society, and was an active member of the choir. She was also a member of the Circle of Mercy, Golden Cluster of St. Hedwig Church, St. Casimir Senior Citizens Club, the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary of St. Stanislaus Church, and the Eagles. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Cross Renaissance Fund, Notre Dame.
