Lydia Vargo, 80, of Douglas Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 10:10 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, in her residence. She was born on July 4, 1916, in Shelburn, Ind.

On Aug. 1, 1933, in South Bend, as Lydia Stuban, she married Stephen N. Vargo, who preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1992.

She is survived by a daughter, Lydia Kolacz of Walkerton, Ind.; four sons, Nandor Vargo of New Buffalo, Mich., Fred Vargo of Indianapolis, Ind., Ron Vargo of Niles, Mich., and James Vargo of South Bend; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Stamm of Elkhart, Ind.

Mrs. Vargo was also preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble, where a rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m.
