Barbara L. Vaszari

May 17, 1943 - October 14, 2000

SOUTH BEND - Barbara L. Vaszari of 830 S. Falcon St., entered into eternal rest at 3 a.m. on Saturday. Barb was born on May 17, 1943, to Daniel D. Fish (deceased) and Louise F. (Jankowski) Fish (deceased).

 

She pledged her love in Holy Matrimony at St. Patrick's Church on February 24, 1962, to Michael C. Vaszari, her soulmate and best friend, who survives. She is also survived by her son, Ronald M. (Laura) Vaszari of Stone Mountain, GA; and her daughter, Angela L. (Gregg) Szynski of Muncie, IN; a brother, David D. (Linda) Fish; Step-Mother, Katherine Fish; Father-in-law, Michael Vaszari; sister-in-law, Ann (Pier) Pacini; a step-sister, Kathleen (Steve) Conner; nephews, David Fish II, Francesco Pacini, Giancarlo Pacini; a niece, Dana Fish; and her beloved dog, Misty.

 

Barb was a well-known musician. Her soft touch on the drums enhanced the sophisticated sound of the Mike Vaszari Combo for the past 25 years. Through her valiant battle with Ovarian Cancer, she inspired and touched many cancer victims as well as her doctors and medical staff.

 

She was a 1961 graduate of South Bend Washington High School, and attended The South Bend College of Commerce. Barb was a member of The Women of the Moose (chapter #1057), the Mishawaka Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, and was a past member of the American Federation of Musicians Local #278, and a proud member of the Ovarian Cancer Coalition. In her memory the family would like to thank Dr. Greg Sutton, Dr. Juan Garcia, Dr. Michael Method, and all her nurses at Michiana Hematology/Oncology. We her family will sorely miss her and look forward to our reunion in Heaven!!

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Vaszari will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Church. Friends and family may call from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
