Michael Vaszari

Michael Vaszari, 90, of South Carlisle Street, died on Wednesday, Feb. 22, in his residence. He was born on Oct. 2, 1910, to Regina (Jakatics), deceased, and John Vaszari, deceased.

 

On June 24, 1939, he married Marie J. Harringer, who preceded him in death on Sept. 30, 1961. In May 1969, he married Clara Terlecki, who also preceded him in death on April 17, 1985. Mr. Vaszari is survived by a daughter, Ann (Pier) Pacini of Milan, Italy; a son, Michael C. Vaszari of South Bend, Ind.; a stepson, Tom Terlecki of South Bend; a stepdaughter, Sylvia (Roger) Newham of Salem, Ore.; a granddaughter, Angela (Gregg) Szynski of Muncie, Ind.; three grandsons, Ronald (Laura) Vaszari of Stone Mountain, Ga., Francesco (Leles) Pacini of Barcelona, Spain, Giancarlo Pacini of Milan; and two great-granddaughters, Marina and Sara Pacini of Barcelona. He is also survived by a brother, John of Fort Wayne, Ind. He was preceded in death by a brother, Julius; and his daughter-in-law, Barbara L. Vaszari.

 

For many years he was employed by the Studebaker Corporation. As a young man he learned how to play the accordion. He became an accomplished accordionist and organist and played at many of the local night spots. Music was always a special part of his life. He also taught many students how to play the accordion. He enjoyed listening and dancing to his son's band, The Mike Vaszari Combo, and other local bands. He was a member of the Mishawaka Eagles.

 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 25, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, South Bend, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 26. His family loves him and will look forward to our reunion in Heaven.
