SOUTH BEND - Cory M. Vavul was born on January 10, 1983, and remained a resident of the South Bend area for his entire life. He died on July 30, at the age of 25. Cory attended grade school at Christ the King School and graduated from Marian High School in 2001. Cory was extremely athletic, as he enjoyed playing football, soccer and running track. Cory also loved hunting with his father and uncle and fishing. As he grew older, he found his true passion in fatherhood. He truly enjoyed daily life, spending time with his wife and children. Cory enjoyed working as a network lineman for AEP. Cory's happy, carefree personality and gentle spirit will be greatly missed and never forgotten. He is survived by his wife, Nani Mahina Vavul; children, Anias and Jace Vavul; loving parents, Mike and Judy Vavul and sister, Carrie Vavul; grandparents, Gene and Dody Ralstin; biological grandmother, Barbara Morgan; and great-grandmother, Bertha Manning.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Visitation will be held Sunday August 3 from 2 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held for Cory at Christ the King Catholic Church on Monday, August 4 at 2 p.m., where friends may visit one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A memorial fund has been set up for his children. Donations may be made to any Notre Dame Federal Credit Union for the Cory Vavul children's Memorial Fund.
