Julius P. Velleman

MISHAWAKA - Services for Julius P. Velleman, 89, of Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton, formerly of West Sixth Street, who died at 6:20 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Community Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Bavo's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Hahn Funeral Home, where a wake will be at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bavo's School.

 

Mr. Velleman retired from Rollie's Meat Market, South Bend, as a meatcutter and was the former owner/operator of Velleman's Fuel & Coal Yard. He was born July 13, 1906, in Mishawaka.

 

On June 16, 1930, in Mishawaka, he married Genevieve DeMeyer. She survives with two daughters, Sylvia Mirda of Mequon, Wis., and Janet Stroubant of Simpsonville, S.C.; a son, James of Edgerton, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was a member of B.K. Club, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 91, Catholic Order of Foresters, past president of Belgium American Business Association and a former member of Indiana State Fraternal Order of Police.
